Maggie (Greta Gerwig) is a modern girl from New York who is unable to fall in love for more than 6 months, but would very much like to be a mother. He decides to just get pregnant and chooses for this purpose a potential best man. Meanwhile, he falls in love with a different (Ethan Hawke). After several years of someone else's husband, who in the meantime has its own weekdays and Maggie again needs change. In her mind there is a new plan, but to realize it will need the help of his ex-wife's new partner (Julianne Moore).
