In suspicious circumstances, Aneta (Maria Dębska) - the beautiful wife of the respected lawyer Karol Holzer (Artur Żmijewski) - is murdered. Supreme Commissioner Rafał Król (Andrzej Zieliński), an officer of the Blue Police who cooperated with the Germans during the occupation, tries to solve the mysterious murder. Further clues multiply suspicions and reveal the deeply hidden secrets of the deceased and the unclear connections of her husband with a high-ranking SS officer (Aleksandar Milićević). Among the suspects is also the somewhat eccentric Count Leon Przewiedzki (Andrzej Seweryn), who has a habit of peeping at people present in the lawyer's apartment, especially women. In the course of the investigation, Commissioner King finds an unexpected ally in the person of a German criminal police adviser - Ernst Kluge (Bogusław Linda). Holzer's situation is becoming more and more dangerous, while the free-killer is perhaps one step away from committing another crime.
