The winner of the Un Certain Regard section at the Cannes 2017 festival is a startling drama about corruption and the wickedness of the Iranian system.

The film's director is Mohammad Rasoulof, a leading creator of the independent Middle East cinema, whose production has been banned in Iran, and he has been persecuted for many years.

The hero of "honest man" is Reza, who lives in the countryside with his wife and son, leading the peaceful life of a freshwater fish farmer. Unfortunately, a large private company affiliated with the government forces the man to cease his small activity. Reza has a choice - he eliminates a micro-enterprise or joins a corporation.

With his new film, Rasoulof poses an important question: is it possible in Iran to fight the oppressor so that he does not get his hands dirty?
